1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using 900s ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms") as a binding agreement between you and Unit 2467 GmbH, a company based in Berlin, Germany ("the Company", "we", "us"). If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the App. We may update these Terms from time to time – continued use of 900s after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

2. Description of the Service

900s is a cross-platform audiobook and podcast-style audio player that offers both free and premium content. Key features of 900s include:

  • Streaming Audio Episodes: Discover and play book-based audio episodes with an intuitive player interface.
  • Interactive Voice Q&A: An optional feature allowing you to tap the microphone and ask questions about the content in real-time, using AI-powered responses.
  • Personal Library: Track your listening history with "Continue Listening" for in-progress episodes and a list of completed episodes.
  • Cross-Platform Sync: Access your account and listening progress on iOS, Android, or web, with progress synchronized across devices when logged in.

All content provided in the App (audio episodes, descriptions, AI responses, etc.) is for your personal, non-commercial use only. We reserve the right to add, remove, or modify features for improvement or legal compliance.

3. Accounts and Eligibility

User Login: To access most features, you need to create an account or sign in via an approved provider. 900s supports secure single sign-on via Welt accounts, and may also offer Google or Apple login options. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activities under your account.

Age Requirement: You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age required by your country's laws) to use 900s. Users under 18 should have a parent or guardian review and accept these Terms. The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow such minors to use the service.

Account Security: You must not share your account or use another person's account. If you suspect unauthorized use of your account, notify us immediately at 900s@apeunit.com. We are not liable for any loss or damage from your failure to secure your account.

4. Subscription Plans and Payments

900s offers different subscription tiers with varying access levels:

  • Free Plan: Free of charge. Allows access to 1 staff-curated episode (~15 minutes) every 24 hours. No access to the full catalog of episodes, and Voice Q&A features are disabled for free users.
  • Plus Plan (€4.99/month): Paid monthly subscription that unlocks unlimited access to the entire episode catalog. Plus users also get Voice Q&A features up to a limit (e.g. 20 minutes of interactive Q&A per month).
  • Welt-Plus Plan (Bundled): A special plan for users who have an active Welt Plus subscription. Provided at no additional cost, it includes unlimited catalog access but no Voice Q&A time. (This plan is automatically applied when you log in with an eligible Welt account.)

Subscription Billing: Paid subscriptions (such as Plus) are billed via the platform you sign up on (e.g. Apple App Store or Google Play). Payments will be charged to your App Store account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription will auto-renew each billing period (monthly) unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Offline Access: Currently, offline downloading of episodes is not available on any plan. We plan to introduce offline listening in the future (likely as a Premium feature). Until then, an internet connection is required to stream all content.

5. Interactive Voice Q&A Feature

900s includes an optional "Live Conversation" mode where you can interact with the audiobook via voice: by tapping the microphone icon, you can ask questions or make requests, and an AI-powered assistant will respond with audio answers. By using this feature, you understand and agree that:

  • Voice Processing: Your voice query will be recorded and sent to our AI service provider (e.g. OpenAI) to generate a response.
  • Appropriate Use: You will use the voice Q&A feature for its intended purpose. You must not misuse it to harass, threaten, or violate any laws.
  • AI Responses: The responses are generated by an artificial intelligence system. We do not guarantee the correctness or completeness of any AI-provided information.
  • Session Limits: Voice Q&A sessions may be limited in length (e.g. Plus plan includes up to 20 minutes per month).

6. User Responsibilities and Restrictions

We strive to provide a reliable and enjoyable service, and we expect users to behave lawfully and respectfully. By using 900s, you agree that you will NOT:

  • Circumvent Limits: Attempt to bypass or hack the limitations of your plan.
  • Unauthorized Access: Tamper with the App, servers, or networks.
  • Infringe or Misuse Content: Reproduce, distribute, record, or publicly perform any content from 900s outside the app.
  • Impersonation or Illegal Use: Create an account using false identity or use 900s for any unlawful activity.

7. Intellectual Property and Content License

Our Content: All content available on 900s – including audio episodes, text, images, and interactive AI-produced content – is owned by us or our content licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Your License: We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the 900s App and content for your personal, non-commercial enjoyment.

8. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is very important to us. Our Privacy Policy (see below) explains what data we collect and how we use and protect it. If you have questions about your personal data, you can contact us at 900s@apeunit.com.

9. Termination of Service

By the User: You are free to stop using 900s at any time. You may also delete your account through the App's settings or by contacting customer support.

By the Company: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to 900s at our discretion, with or without prior notice, if you violate these Terms.

10. Disclaimers of Warranty

900s is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties regarding the App and its content.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent allowed by law, the Company (Unit 2467 GmbH) and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of 900s.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Berlin, Germany.

This Privacy Policy explains how Unit 2467 GmbH (“Company,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the 900s app and related services (“Services”). We follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), and other applicable laws.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use 900s, we collect:

  • Account Information (Contract): name (if provided), email address, authentication IDs or tokens, subscription tier.
  • Device Information & Identifiers (Legitimate Interest): device model, OS version, language, device ID (IDFV / Amplitude Device ID), and optional push‑ notification token.
  • Usage Data (Legitimate Interest): app launches, taps, listening progress, voice‑session duration, library actions.
  • Audio / Voice Data (Contract): live microphone input for the real‑time Q&A feature. Audio is discarded after transcription; transcripts are deleted within 30 days.
  • Approximate Location (Legitimate Interest): city / country inferred from IP for aggregated analytics.
  • Purchase History (Contract & Legal Obligation): product ID, price, currency, purchase date, renewal status.
  • Diagnostics (Legitimate Interest): minimal error logs; we do notcollect full crash reports unless you send them via support.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide & operate the app (account login, audio streaming, voice Q&A).
  • Subscription management and receipt validation.
  • Personalisation of recommendations and library.
  • Analytics to improve features (Amplitude). You can opt‑out in Settings → Privacy.
  • Security & fraud prevention (token validation, abuse monitoring).
  • Service communications (transactional emails, push notifications you enable).

4. Legal Bases (GDPR)

We rely on:

  • Contractual necessity – to deliver the Service you request.
  • Legitimate interests – e.g. analytics, network security. You may object.
  • Consent – e.g. push notifications, marketing e‑mails.
  • Legal obligation – accounting and tax retention of purchase records.

5. How We Share Information

  • Supabase Ltd. (EU ↔ US) – hosting, database, auth.
  • RevenueCat Inc. (US) – subscription receipt validation.
  • Amplitude Inc. (US) – product analytics.
  • OpenAI, L.L.C. (US) – real‑time voice processing.
  • Authorities or buyers only if legally required or during corporate re‑organisation.
  • We do not sell your personal data or share it with ad networks.

6. International Data Transfers

Primary data is stored in the EU (Frankfurt). When we transfer data to the United States, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and encrypt data in transit and at rest.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data – until you delete your account + 30 days backup.
  • Purchase history – 10 years (statutory bookkeeping).
  • Voice transcripts – max 30 days, then deleted.
  • Analytics events – raw data 24 months, then aggregated.
  • Push tokens – until you disable notifications or uninstall the app.

8. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access, rectification, deletion, portability, restriction, objection.
  • Withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect prior processing.
  • Opt‑out of analytics in Settings → Privacy → Analytics Off.
  • Contact the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz to lodge a complaint (or your local authority).
  • CCPA: Right to know, delete, and not be discriminated against. We do not “sell” or “share” your data as defined by the CCPA.

9. Children’s Privacy

900s is not directed to children under 16 in the EU/UK or under 13 elsewhere. We do not knowingly collect personal data from such children. If you believe we have, please contact us for deletion.

10. Data Security

  • All traffic encrypted via HTTPS/TLS 1.2+
  • JSON Web Tokens stored in iOS Keychain / Android Keystore
  • Role‑based access and least‑privilege controls
  • Annual penetration testing and continuous monitoring

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be announced in‑app or by e‑mail. The “Last Updated” date reflects the latest revision.
